Christian Westerlind Wigstrom
Christian Westerlind Wigstrom is a fintech entrepreneur, economist, and leader with a passion for payment technology and innovation. As the Co-Founder and CEO of Monoova, he has been part of the driving the early transition to real-time payments in Australia, processing over AUD 170 billion since Monoova’s inception.
Under his leadership, Monoova was named “Fintech Organisation of the Year” (2022) and awarded “Excellence in Payments” (2024) at the peer-reviewed Finnies industry awards.
Christian joined the Fintech Australia Board as Treasurer in 2023 and the Australian Payment Network (AusPayNet) Board as Alternate Director in 2025, contributing to shaping the future of payments in Australia. Recognised for his industry contributions by his peers, he has been a finalist for “Outstanding Fintech Leader of the Year” three years in a row (2020-2022), and was voted the 20th most influential person in the world of digital assets in Australia on Blockchain APAC’s “Digital Assets” list in 2023. In 2016, Christian was listed as one of Sweden’s “101 Super Talents” by business magazine Veckans Affärer.
Christian regularly speaks at major events hosted by ecosystem partners such as Australian Payments Plus (AP+), AusPayNet, Cuscal and Fintech Australia. He has shared his insights on fintech innovation through various podcasts and panel discussions.
Previously, Christian served as Economic Advisor in the UK Parliament and as Chief of Staff at an agricultural group in Zimbabwe. He has a PhD and a Masters degree from the University of Oxford.
