The following blog is written by our partner, FinTech Australia, as they celebrate a major milestone - their 10th anniversary. Dive in to learn how FinTech Australia has shaped policy, driven innovation, and laid the groundwork for the next wave of fintech growth.
2025 marks a significant milestone for FinTech Australia as we celebrate our 10th anniversary.
Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed the rapid transformation of Australia's fintech sector into one of the world’s most vibrant and competitive ecosystems. Fintech is now a $45 billion industry in Australia, underpinned by a highly skilled, multilingual technology workforce and an advanced $10 trillion financial services sector [1] that actively invests in innovation. In just a decade, Australia’s fintech ecosystem has earned global recognition as one of the most dynamic and competitive fintech hubs in the world [2].
FinTech Australia was founded to support the growth and success of Australian fintechs and to create a fair, competitive, and innovation-friendly financial services landscape. Through policy advocacy, strategic engagement with government and regulators, and community-building initiatives, we’ve helped shape the conditions for fintech to thrive.
As we celebrate our 10 years of impact, we also reaffirm our commitment to shaping the policy landscape for the next decade of fintech growth. FinTech Australia has been a strong advocate for the fintech industry from driving the development of the Consumer Data Rights, payments regulation reform, digital asset policy and many more [3].
Looking ahead, we remain committed to working closely with the Albanese Government and regulators to support a policy agenda that unlocks innovation, boosts competition and delivers better outcomes for consumers and businesses alike. Our advocacy work will continue to ensure that fintech plays an important role in Australia's digital and economic future.
From humble beginnings to a thriving community of startups, scaleups, investors, and institutions, this journey has been driven by a shared mission to shape the future of finance.
Celebrating at the Finnies Gala Night
There’s no better place to honour this milestone than at the Finnie Awards Gala Night happening June 26, 2025. Now in its ninth year, the Finnies have become the premier awards night for the fintech industry. This year, we’re going bigger to celebrate a decade of fintech innovation in Australia.
FinTech Australia CEO Rehan D'Almeida said:
"Given this is FinTech Australia’s 10-year anniversary we have a special night planned for all attendees. Even if you aren't up for an award, it will be a night to remember. We expect the event to fully sell out, so please consider registering and purchasing tickets early to avoid disappointment."
FinTech Australia has played a key role in advocating for open banking, industry standards, and a fair, innovative financial services environment. And the work continues.
